Why do I have to follow a TRAINING and have a DIPLOMA to do the professional photography?

What is the DURATION OF THE PROGRAM?
The commercial photography program is 15 consecutive months at a rate of 3 days per week, from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. There is a 4-week stop for the summer holidays in August and 3 for those winter end-December early January.

The course of photography that we offer is a Certificate of Collegial Studies, which in Quebec are postsecondary studies that include all concentration courses in photography but no additional courses. Have interrupted your studies for at least two consecutive sessions or one academic year (Quebec students only)

Possess the aptitudes and interests necessary for professional photography.

How to register?
For a registration, for any other information or to visit the college you must make an appointment. We will indicate at this time the various documents to bring and a registration fee of 200 $ are requested. The prerequisite for this training is secondary 5 or a work experience deemed sufficient.

What HARDWARE do I need to provide?
You will need a semi-professional digital camera whose cost is about $ 1000.00. If necessary, a list of suggested devices can be provided.

Are there other COSTS to be expected?
All you need for your training besides the camera is provided. A hard drive will be given to you at the beginning of the training. All impressions required for your work and portfolios are also provided. The college has all the necessary photographic equipment. However, you can plan to purchase a computer and software if you want to work at home. Otherwise all the computer equipment is accessible to the college.

I have already taken photo classes, can I be credited for these courses?

So the program only includes photo classes and lasts only 16 months instead of 3 years for DEC. CED’s are for outgoing high school students, so they are 17 years old. Our AEC is more adult-oriented.

What is the difference between the college AEC and a DVS?
The DEP is a secondary level that caters to much younger students. Teachers must have a teaching certificate, which limits the possibility of using lecturers as at Marsan College where experts in each of the fields come to share their knowledge and experience of the environment. As the college is a superior institution of study, it has the flexibility to adapt its pedagogy quickly to changes in practices and technology, in contrast to the rigidity of secondary schools. There is no placement support service in the DEP.
